(Top) Ascariasis, or roundworm, is an intestinal parasitic infection and is part of a family of parasites known as the soil-transmitted helminths. It affects more than 1 billion people worldwide. (Bottom) Trichuriasis, also in the family of soil-transmitted helminths, is an infection of the large intestine caused by the human whipworm. More than 800 million people are affected.
